First Stop: Pend Orielle Bible Camp
We started our journey in the middle of May 2017 at Pend Orielle Bible Camp in Newport, WA.
This is a Summer Christian Camp that has a work party come in every year prior to opening of their summer session. Hard Hats and Rv’rs 4 Christ have been going to this event since the early years of the camp. This was the second year Carol and I had the opportunity to volunteer at the camp.

Mike, a local resident and retired Army helicopter pilot was the man who led the volunteer efforts and assigned projects for that day (a formidable task for sure). The ladies in the picture are Carol T and Carol Fisher. Pete, is an avid hiker and cruise ship adventurer is also with HH4C and always comes year after year to volunteer his time and efforts.
Myself and Morrie on Demo-Day!

Morrie is a newly retired Pastor who is from North Pole, Alaska (yes Virginia, there REALLY is a North Pole in Alaska)! His wife Carol joined in on the work as this was their first project as volunteers for Hart Hats 4 Christ / RV'ers 4 Christ. They had a ball! Morrie and I were tasked with the demo. of the existing poly roofing material that was originally put in to keep it dry underneath the deck. Lots of joking around and good fellowship as we put up the new “used” corrugated metal roofing material for better protection from the elements.
'How did that black spot get all the way up there"?! -Pete

Pete inspected and touched up painting on soffits as well as other needed areas around camp.
Paul and Ferne:
Pend Orielle Bible Camp Directors. |
Paul and Ferne are the newly installed Camp Directors for the camp. Amazingly multi-talented couple with lifelong service all over the world and to have them at the camp is a blessing indeed.
As with every camp, there is the never ending chore of cleaning the different cabins, nurses station, snack shop, guest cabins, meeting halls, activity rooms, picnic tables and the many other structures. For this humbling task, we have these ladies to thank (picture below). A very important aspect of every camp is the food - WOW, a sumptuous feast was laid out every meal by Kelly and her staff! A tip if you are ever at the camp for a meal, make sure to leave space for the peach cobbler and ice cream by Kelly - this is to die for!
As all the chores and projects started to get wrapped up and the time to depart was drawing near, we were blessed to have a spectacular show of God’s creation as He put an end to a beautiful day and welcome a cool and peaceful night.
Our prayer is that the summer season at the camp be a memorable event for the youths that attend and that our Lord grant those that serve at the camp the opportunity to share their testimonies and love for our Lord with those youths so that they too may have and experience the peace and joy of having Christ in their hearts.
