Back at Glen Eryie

As we get ready to head down south after spending the Christmas Season with family and with the project in Eloy, AZ a week out,  Glen Eyrie (link)  presented itself as a very viable option for at least a couple of weeks. The project being undertaken is the Oaks Lodge, a 16 room structure that is slated for a major upgrading.

Joe Newton of CWCf , a very talented  and gifted craftsman is leadman for the project. After checking in with him and getting a quick rundown of the project, we were then directed to the lower "chalet" which was a really cute apartment that had all the needed amenities to make our stay there comfortable and warm.

The crew had to scrape off all the "popcorn" ceilings and demo out the bathrooms down to the studs in order to put in showers; and two rooms had to be converted to  meet ADA (American Disabilities Act) specs. The old cast iron tubs had to be sawed into two pieces in order to be taken out of the building. Carpet was ripped out and all trim had to be taken off as well.

When we arrived most the demo had been undertaken and we were starting to put things back together. Duane ( aka the "Doctor") who had had just finished the drywall work at New Life Ranch in Colcord, OK (see previous posts) was busy doing what he does best; mudding, taping and texturing.

Chuck Moe along with his wife, also long time CWCf members had just arrived from spending the Christmas Holiday with family in Oregon started to roll up his sleeves and dove right into the project. He had led a team of volunteers to do the RV Laundry pad during the October Rendezvous. A multi-talented gentleman who does wonderful work.

Glen Eyrie Staff and some local volunteers that came to help out with the project. Their involvement in the project was a tremendous help to Joe; but more importantly the opportunity to work alongside such strong and steadfast Christians was inspiring!

Glen Eyrie is a volunteers' haven, Wendy who is the Director of Volunteer Ministries makes sure that ALL our needs are taken cared of; she personally visits the worksite bringing bottled water and snacks while asking us if there is anything more that she can do!!! This is true Christian Compassion on display; this  virtue is prevalent with all the staff that we encountered - from the kitchen, food servers, cafeteria, house keeping, security, maintenance, the list goes on - these folks serve and live by example and the experience is humbling!!

The time for us to depart and head for Eloy had arrived and we are leaving with a heavy heart knowing that there is still a lot of work that needed to be done in a short period of time. However, the knowledge that our almighty God is in control of ALL things is comforting, He will complete the project in His own way, only at His appointed time. We can only do what He has for us to do as we leave Joe and the others with prayers and blessings to continue the work and let our Lord's glory be revealed in their efforts.

TO GOD be the GLORY ALWAYS !!!!
